Learning Japanese and English to make the World a smaller place.

65 is a lovely age. Your job is done. Your purpose has shrunk, and with it, your confidence.

As one ages, a woman may think ‘what will remain of me when I leave this earth’. There are many things I want to accomplish in this lifetime. I want to leave the Earth better than when I got here. In 1981 I stood pregnant on the shore, I wished for my daughter to travel to the other side of the Ocean. But instead of that, the internet took us both all around the World and back. Teaching online brought Saudi Arabia into my living room each morning and talking to children in that vastly different environment than I had here in NYC, I came to know the other side of the Ocean.

Making the World my neighbor is the ultimate purpose, as communicating with children standing on different shores than mine made our World that much smaller, and that much lovelier. A job with meaning and love entwined in the day may be my legacy, along with those bumps in my stomach that I shared with the World.
